Seeing Sound: Where Music and Visual Art Meet
Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at 7pm
Grace Church on the Hill, 300 Lonsdale Rd, Toronto
What if you could see music? The Canadian Women Composers Project is making that possible in a performance fusing music with visual art. Soprano Clarisse Tonigussi and pianist Narmina Efendiyeva will take the stage performing works by emerging Canadian composers while visual artist Alexandria Harding-Costa will interpret what she hears in the music onto a canvas right before your eyes!
The musical portion of the concert will feature over an hour of music by Canadians Katerina Gimon, Maria Eduarda Mendes Martins, Carmen Braden, Julia Mermelstein, Nova Pon, Marla Kishimoto, Julia Jacklein, and Rebekah Cummings.
After the performance, Alexandria Harding-Costa's painting will be auctioned off and part of the proceeds will go to "Sistering," a multi-service agency for at-risk, socially isolated women in Toronto who are homeless or precariously housed.
